Layered Protection System
Envirosafe’s landfill is built to strict Environmental Protection Agency performance standards, using a multi-layered containment system designed for long-term environmental protection. Each layer works together to safely isolate materials, manage moisture, and continuously monitor system integrity.
How Our Layered Protection System Works
Our landfill liner system is built with multiple engineered layers, each serving a specific purpose. Together, they form a redundant system designed to prevent contamination and ensure safe, compliant operation.

Layer by Layer Breakdown
6" Protective Layer
Protects underlying system during operation and material placement.
Perforated Pipe, Sand & Gravel
Collects and channels leachate to a controlled sump for safe removal and treatment.
Primary Containment Barrier
Durable, chemical-resistant liner forming the first barrier against contamination.
24" Compacted Clay Layer
Dense clay barrier engineered to slow liquid movement and meet EPA standards.
12" Gravel Layer
Separates and protects the primary system from the monitoring layer below.
Monitoring & Detection
Continuously monitored layer that detects and directs any moisture to collection points.
Secondary Containment Barrier
Reinforces the system with an additional durable liner for redundancy.
36" Compacted Clay Layer
Final base layer providing long-term stability and environmental protection.
